Average Position
Average position is a metric reported in Google Search Console that shows the mean ranking of a website's URLs across all queries that triggered impressions in Google Search. It is calculated by averaging the highest position a URL appeared in for each query over the selected time period.
Webmasters monitor average position in Google Search Console's Performance report, filtered by query, page, country, or device. Ahrefs and SEMrush also provide rank tracking features that show average position trends over time, helping identify ranking improvements or drops.
