Video Sitemap
A video sitemap is an XML sitemap or extension that provides Google with metadata about video content embedded on web pages, including video title, description, thumbnail URL, content URL or player URL, duration, and publication date. It helps Google discover and index video content, making it eligible to appear in Google Video Search and video rich results.
Video sitemaps are generated via CMS video SEO plugins (e.g., Yoast SEO Premium) or manually, and submitted through Google Search Console's Sitemaps report. Performance data for video-specific search results is tracked via Google Search Console's Performance report filtered by Search Type: Video.
