Image Sitemap
An image sitemap is an XML sitemap or an extension to an existing XML sitemap that provides Google with additional information about images hosted on a website, including image URL, caption, title, geographic location, and license. It helps Google discover images that might otherwise be missed during crawling, particularly dynamically loaded images.
Image sitemaps are generated using tools like Screaming Frog, XML-Sitemaps.com, or CMS plugins such as Yoast SEO. They are submitted through Google Search Console's Sitemaps report, and their impact on image indexing is tracked via the Performance report's Image Search filter.
