Long Tail Keywords
Long-tail keywords are highly specific search phrases, typically three or more words, that have lower individual search volumes but collectively account for a large majority of all search queries. Coined from the concept of the "long tail" distribution, these keywords attract more qualified traffic and are generally easier to rank for than competitive short-tail keywords.
Long-tail keywords are discovered using Ahrefs' Keywords Explorer (filtered by word count), SEMrush's Keyword Magic Tool, Answer The Public, and Google's autocomplete and "Related Searches" features. Ranking performance for long-tail keywords is tracked in Google Search Console and Ahrefs rank tracking.
