Link Building
Broken Link
A broken link (also known as a dead link) is a hyperlink that points to a page or resource that no longer exists or cannot be reached, typically returning a 404 or 410 HTTP status code. Broken links harm user experience and can negatively impact crawl efficiency and link equity flow.
Broken links are identified using tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs' Site Audit, SEMrush Site Audit, or Moz's Link Explorer. Google Search Console's Coverage report also flags crawl errors caused by broken internal and external links.
