Link Building
Spam Link
Spam links are inbound hyperlinks from low-quality, irrelevant, or manipulative sources that violate Google's link spam policies, including links from link farms, private blog networks (PBNs), automatically generated directories, forum comment spam, and paid link schemes. Google's Spam Brain AI (formerly part of the Penguin algorithm) identifies and devalues spam links.
Spam links are identified using Ahrefs' Backlink Audit (which flags low DR/DR, irrelevant, and suspicious domains), SEMrush's Backlink Audit Tool (with Toxic Score metric), and Moz's Spam Score. Identified spam links can be disavowed using Google Search Console's Disavow Tool to prevent them from harming rankings.
