What do GEO services cost? Across the five public 2026 pricing guides we compiled, mid-market programs cluster at roughly $3,000-$8,000 a month. Entry programs start near $1,500-$2,500, enterprise programs run $10,000-$25,000 or more, and a one-time audit costs $2,500-$10,000. Those are census bands drawn from what agencies publish, not a single rate card. In 2026, 51% of B2B software buyers start product research with an AI chatbot more often than with Google (G2, via PR Newswire, 2026). That's up from 29% in April 2025.
One disclosure before the numbers. Kubnal Bridge is a GEO agency, and we publish this blog. We compiled other people's published prices rather than quoting our own, so you can benchmark any quote you receive, including ours. If the discipline is new, start with our explainer on generative engine optimization.
Key Takeaways
- Across five 2026 pricing guides, mid-market GEO retainers cluster at roughly $3,000-$8,000 a month. Entry starts near $1,500-$2,500; enterprise runs $10,000-$25,000 or more.
- Not one guide publishes a methodology. Treat every range as an agency's positioning, including ours.
- The SEO baseline sits lower. In a 2024 Ahrefs survey of 439 providers, agencies averaged $3,209 a month; the most common band was $501-$1,000 (Ahrefs, 2024).
- Tools are cheap next to labor. Otterly starts at $29 a month and Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 per domain. Profound and Peec AI publish no price.
- The expensive line is earned citations: in 2026, 82.9% of AI citations came from third-party sources (Analyze, 2026).
Key findings
The headline is the mid-market band, $3,000-$8,000 a month, covered by at least three of the five 2026 guides. Not one guide shows how it arrived at its numbers.
- Mid-market: $3,000-$8,000 a month. Icecube Digital lists $3,000-$8,000 (Icecube Digital, 2026); Stackmatix's GEO line, $3,000-$12,000, overlaps (Stackmatix, 2026).
- Entry: $1,500-$2,500; enterprise: $10,000-$25,000 or more. Revv Growth's enterprise tier is $12,000-$25,000 (Revv Growth, 2026).
- Audit: $2,500-$10,000 one-time. Fuel Online's AEO audit is $2,500-$5,000 for up to 20 pages (Fuel Online, 2026).
- SEO costs less. In a 2024 Ahrefs survey of 439 providers, agencies averaged $3,209 a month (Ahrefs, 2024).
- Tools start at $29. Otterly's Lite plan is $29 a month (Otterly, 2026); Semrush's toolkit is $99 per domain (Semrush, 2026).
How we compiled these prices
We collected every public GEO pricing guide we could retrieve on 2026-09-20 and normalized it into one table. That produced five guides updated between March and September 2026: Digital Elevator, Fuel Online, Revv Growth, Icecube Digital, and Stackmatix. We added four live tool pricing pages and two SEO baselines. The baselines are a 2024 Ahrefs survey of 439 providers (Ahrefs, 2024) and a 2024 SE Ranking survey of 260 agencies (SE Ranking, 2024).
Normalization was simple. We mapped each guide's lowest tier to entry, its highest to enterprise, and everything between to mid-market. Audits, projects, and hourly rates got their own rows. A census band is where at least three of the five guides overlap. The Data Appendix shows every raw figure.
Limitations
Four limits are why we call this a census, not a market study.
- All five guides are written by agencies that sell the service, and none discloses a sample or method. They record what the market says it charges, not what buyers pay.
- The ranges are US-centric. No guide breaks out UK, EU, Turkish, or Gulf pricing.
- Prices move, and the two surveys are 2024 SEO data, used here only as baselines.
- Our own prices are not in the table; a self-reported row would defeat a census built to benchmark vendors, including us.
How much does a GEO retainer cost per month?
For most mid-market companies, a GEO retainer costs $3,000-$8,000 a month in 2026, by at least three of the five guides in our census. Digital Elevator lists mid-market retainers at $2,000-$8,000 (Digital Elevator, 2026). Icecube Digital lists its mid-market tier at $3,000-$8,000 (Icecube Digital, 2026).
Entry programs cluster near $1,500-$2,500 a month. Digital Elevator prices a "monitor and maintain" tier at $1,000-$2,500 (Digital Elevator, 2026), and Icecube Digital's starter tier is $1,500-$3,000. Fuel Online starts higher: its GEO packages run $2,500-$3,500, $3,500-$6,000, and $5,000-$12,000 (Fuel Online, 2026).
Enterprise is where the guides disagree most. Digital Elevator's table shows $10,000-$30,000 or more (Digital Elevator, 2026). Revv Growth prices enterprise at $12,000-$25,000 and says most GEO services range from $3,000 to $25,000 a month (Revv Growth, 2026). Stackmatix goes to $15,000-$50,000 or more (Stackmatix, 2026).
What does that buy compared with a hire? In 2026, one US SEO specialist averages $96,564 a year (Salary.com, 2026), about the mid-market top annualized. We run the 12-month comparison in agency versus in-house.
Is GEO more expensive than SEO?
Yes, on published numbers. In a 2024 Ahrefs survey of 439 SEO providers, agencies averaged $3,209 a month (Ahrefs, 2024). The most common band was $501-$1,000, chosen by 20.4%, and 63% of all pricing fell between $500 and $5,000. The 2026 GEO guides open their mid-market bands at $2,000-$3,000, roughly where SEO's average sits.
A second SEO number reads differently. In a December 2024 SE Ranking survey of 260 agencies, the average charge for AI-optimization services was $937 a month (SE Ranking, 2024). In the same survey, 64% of retainers were under $1,000 a month, and 70% of agencies had raised prices or planned to.
So which is it, $937 or $3,000? The gap is scope. The $937 is what an SEO agency charges to bolt AI optimization onto an existing retainer: monitoring plus on-page foundations. The $2,500-$3,000 floor in the 2026 guides is a standalone program with earned citations and per-engine measurement. Earned citations are the labor. In 2026, 82.9% of AI citations came from third-party sources (Analyze, 2026). So the first question on any quote isn't "what's the number?" It's "is outreach in scope?"
What does a one-time GEO audit cost?
Most one-time GEO audits cost $2,500-$10,000 in 2026. Fuel Online prices an AEO audit covering up to 20 pages at $2,500-$5,000 (Fuel Online, 2026). Stackmatix prices an AI SEO audit at $2,500-$10,000 and a technical audit at $1,500-$5,000 (Stackmatix, 2026).
Digital Elevator lists freelance projects at $150-$2,000 (Digital Elevator, 2026). Hourly rates are consistent: $100-$300 at Stackmatix, $50-$300 at Icecube Digital (Icecube Digital, 2026), and $125-$250 for freelancers at Fuel Online.
What should an audit hand back, whatever the price? A baseline share of voice on a disclosed prompt set. An entity and schema review. And a citation-gap list of third-party pages engines already cite where you're absent. If the proposal skips the prompt set, it's a sales deck, not an audit. We cover vetting in how to choose a GEO agency.
What do AI visibility tools cost if you go DIY?
AI visibility tracking starts at $29 a month in 2026. Otterly's Lite plan is $29 for 15 prompts, Standard is $189 for 100, Premium is $489 for 400, and Enterprise starts at $1,000 (Otterly, 2026). All tiers track ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Copilot.
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, for 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, and Perplexity (Semrush, 2026). Two enterprise vendors publish no price. Profound lists a free trial and a custom-priced Enterprise tier (Profound, 2026). Peec AI shows four unpriced tiers (Peec AI, 2026).
| Tool | Published price? | Lowest tier | Prompts | Engines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly | Yes | Lite, $29 a month | 15 | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | Yes | $99 a month per domain, billed annually | 25 | ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Perplexity |
| Profound | Not published | Free trial; Enterprise custom-priced | Not published | Not published |
| Peec AI | Not published | Starter, unpriced | Not published | Not published |
The guides budget above the entry tiers. Icecube Digital budgets $150-$500 or more a month for DIY tools, and Stackmatix $200-$500. Fuel Online budgets $6,000-$10,000 a year (Fuel Online, 2026).
Why not just buy a tool, then? Because tools report; they don't act. In 2026, 73% of marketers used tools to monitor AI visibility, yet 59% couldn't turn the data into action (Scribewise, 2026). Compare the options in our roundup of AI visibility platforms, and see how to measure AI visibility in GA4.
What actually moves the price up or down?
Scope moves the price, and the guides broadly agree on which items: engines covered, content volume, schema complexity, and digital PR. Fuel Online prices the last one separately: co-citation building at $3,500-$5,000 a month on top of a package (Fuel Online, 2026). That one line can double a mid-market retainer.
In our experience, three things move price on real scopes, stated qualitatively since our rate card isn't in this article. First, the number of engines tested. Tracking ChatGPT alone is a different job from re-running one prompt set on four engines. Second, markets and languages. US, UK, EU, Turkey, and the Gulf means separate panels, often in separate languages, each with its own third-party sources to earn. Third, whether earned-citation outreach is in scope. It's the largest labor line and the item most often left out of a quote.
Surprises and outliers
Two things surprised us. The top of "enterprise" spans $25,000 at Revv Growth and Icecube Digital to $50,000 or more at Stackmatix (Stackmatix, 2026). That's a 2x spread with no method on either side. And Digital Elevator's own page states enterprise two ways: $10,000-$30,000+ in its table, $10,000-$25,000+ in its prose (Digital Elevator, 2026). These ranges are positioning, not measurement.
How to read a GEO quote
Read a quote by segment and by scope, not by the headline number. In 2026, 33% of US marketers planned to hire outside agency support (Scribewise, 2026), in a survey of 602. Match the band to your size, then ask one scope question.
Founder-led SaaS under 50 people: expect the entry band, $1,500-$2,500 a month, or a one-time audit at $2,500-$5,000 first. Ask which prompts will be tracked, and on which engines.
Mid-market marketing team: expect $3,000-$8,000 a month. Ask whether earned-citation outreach is inside that number or priced separately, as Fuel Online's $3,500-$5,000 co-citation line is.
Enterprise: expect $10,000-$25,000 or more, with markets and languages driving the spread. Ask how many prompt panels are included and who owns the data afterward.
Three red flags apply to any vendor, including agencies such as Kubnal Bridge. A retainer with no disclosed prompt set, because you can't audit what you can't see. Any promise of a fixed number of citations, since nobody controls how engines rank answers. And outreach excluded while "citations" appear in the deliverables, because roughly 83% of citations come from pages you don't own (Analyze, 2026).
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does GEO cost per month?
Across five 2026 pricing guides, mid-market GEO retainers cluster at $3,000-$8,000 a month. Digital Elevator lists $2,000-$8,000 (Digital Elevator, 2026) and Icecube Digital lists $3,000-$8,000 (Icecube Digital, 2026). Entry programs start near $1,500-$2,500, and enterprise programs run $10,000-$25,000 or more. No guide publishes a method, so treat every band as positioning.
Is GEO more expensive than SEO?
Yes, on published numbers. In a 2024 Ahrefs survey of 439 providers, SEO agencies averaged $3,209 a month and the most common band was $501-$1,000 (Ahrefs, 2024). Standalone GEO programs in the 2026 guides start near $2,500-$3,000 a month. The difference is scope: earned-citation outreach and per-engine measurement, which SEO retainers rarely include.
What does a GEO audit cost?
Most one-time GEO audits cost $2,500-$10,000 in 2026. Fuel Online prices an AEO audit of up to 20 pages at $2,500-$5,000 (Fuel Online, 2026). Stackmatix prices an AI SEO audit at $2,500-$10,000 (Stackmatix, 2026). A credible audit returns a baseline on a disclosed prompt set, a schema review, and a citation-gap list.
Can I do GEO with a $99 tool instead of an agency?
You can track it. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain (Semrush, 2026), and Otterly starts at $29 (Otterly, 2026). Acting on it is the hard part: in 2026, 73% of marketers used monitoring tools, yet 59% couldn't turn the data into action (Scribewise, 2026). Tools measure the gap; someone still has to close it.
Why do GEO prices vary so much?
Because no guide publishes a method, and scope varies. Enterprise tops range from $25,000 at Revv Growth (Revv Growth, 2026) to $50,000 or more at Stackmatix (Stackmatix, 2026), a 2x spread. The biggest variable is whether earned-citation outreach is included. Fuel Online prices co-citation building at $3,500-$5,000 a month on top of a package (Fuel Online, 2026).
Conclusion
GEO services cost roughly $3,000-$8,000 a month for a mid-market program in 2026, by our census of five agency-written guides. Entry programs run $1,500-$2,500 and enterprise $10,000-$25,000 or more. The number matters less than the scope behind it.
- Ask for the prompt set: which questions, which engines, and how often they're re-run.
- Ask for the outreach line. In a 2024 SE Ranking survey of 260 agencies, the AI-optimization add-on averaged $937 a month (SE Ranking, 2024). A program with earned citations starts near $3,000.
- Treat tools as measurement, not the work. $29-$99 a month buys a view of the gap, not a way to close it.
